Community Health Needs Assessment

At the root of the work of Healthy By Design is data. We have been working with the community and our coalition to paint an accurate and ongoing picture of the health of Yellowstone County in order to continue to enhance and refine that image.a

In 2005/2006, 2010/2011, 2013/2014, and again in 2016/2017, Billings Clinic, RiverStone Health, and St. Vincent Healthcare collaborated to conduct a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and, with participation from the community at each step in the process, have identified various health priorities that warranted improvement. Please see some of our findings below.

% of county adults at healthy weight in 2017 (compared to 31.9% in 2014)


% report ``fair/poor`` mental health in 2017 (compared to 10.6% in 2014)


% report eating five plus servings of fruits and/or vegetables per day in 2017 (compared to 40.1% in 2014)


% of children report being physically active 1 or more hours per day in 2017 (compared to 42.8% in 2014)


% of adults report no leisure time physical activity in the past month in 2017 (compared to 23.7% in 2014)


% of adults report limited activity in some way due to a physical, mental, or emotional problems in 2017 (compared to 22.4% in 2014)
